Song Fa Bak Kut Teh 松发肉骨茶

Bak Kut Teh (肉骨茶) - Basically its a very traditional dish of pork ribs soup with pepper soup as the soup base. Very popular dish among Teochews and Hokkiens and there's a different type of bak kut teh for the different dialects. This particular stall which I went with my aunt on Sunday serves Teochew style Bak Kut Teh much to my aunt's delight haha (she told me that they used to be at Rochore area where my grandmother stayed). What I like about it is its decoration and effort to appeal to youngsters to try out those pork and kidney soups. Even their staffs are youngsters, cheap labour? (maybe) But what I like is the whole concept, very modern and something like the Bak Kut Teh in the future, turning something so traditional into something which keeps up to the pace of the modern world. They also managed to provide very good customer service when you ask for extra soup (that's a big problem with Teochew style Bak Kut Tehs, they serve with such small bowls and the soup's the thing that gets you on you see) they will provide it with a smile. No problem at all. Just ask and be served. Sadly the operating hours are to the wee hours if not that place will definitely be a hotspot for clubbers. Supper anyone?
