PUMA x Yo! MTV Raps Event in ZOUK Singapore

The rhymes, the flavor, the lyrics, the beats, and of course, the style were all iconic. Fans remember when hip-hop was first brought to mainstream audiences with the groundbreaking TV show, “YO! MTV Raps.” The popular program was an early supporter of rap by celebrating its rich legacy — featuring Doctor Dre and Ed Lover, Big Daddy Kane, MC Shan and Doug E. Fresh — all of those who fathered the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. PUMA will honor these artists and the show with a collection of fresh apparel and shoes in typical PUMA style known as the YO! MTV Raps Limited Edition Artist collection.

Based on the signature PUMA Clyde and Suede silhouettes, styles embraced by hip-hop and street culture in the late 70s, 80s and early 90s, PUMA has created four limited edition styles specific to each of the artist who were the show’s legendary hosts. True to the culture of the time, each shoe demands attention with eye-catching colors, the famed YO! logo on the tongue and heel, and unique call outs to each artist.

Zouk Singapore Celebrates YO! MTV Raps.

To recapture the golden age of hip-hop and in conjunction with the launch of this limited edition collection, a special event will be held on 15 September 2007 at Zouk — Singapore’s party central and iconic entertainment venue.

For one night only, Zouk goes “Old Skool” – a tribute to the spirit of rap and its founding influences – complete with a banging street party, that includes an in-house “backyard” BBQ akin to the urban city “block parties” where rap music gained its early roots. Expect trash basketball throw-outs, arcade games and outrageous “characters” in an all night party that is not only big on attitude but on cool prizes as well from Puma.
