Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone

Synopsis - Shinji, a 14-year-old boy, arrives in Tokyo-3, a heavily fortified outpost that survived "Second Impact", a calamity leaving humankind vulnerable to alien machines referred to as Angels. The last hope for survival rests with government agency NERV (whose motto reads, "God is in his heaven, all is right with the world") and its gigantic Evangelion fighting artillery, a human-machine hybrid designed by Shinji's distant father, Gendou.

Review - Ok first of all this is actually a remake of the first 6 episodes of the Evangelion series squeezed into 98 minutes. So remake means better editing with modern technology and this movie delivered with some of the scenes made better with today's technology. The voices behind each characters were also kept the same which was really nice. The morphing of the Angel number 5 was cool to the max and that battle was really a scene to behold. Another thing also to note was probably the fact that you would be able to see Rei nude in this one and probably some minor changes in how some characters appear compared to the anime. One down and three more to go for this rebuild series of Evangelion and I would strongly recommend anyone who loves anime to go watch this movie and understand the story behind it. However, one bad thing about watching it in Singapore is that they cut away the freaking trailer for the sequel at the end. Damn, why must they do that? So much for paying that extra $0.50 and not getting your money's worth. If you want to watch the trailer, you can check it out here.
