Wimbledon - What an epic match, I started watching it from 830pm and it ended at 430am in the morning (rain interruption in the midst). For 5 years, it was Roger Federer who ruled the grass court but yesterday Rafael Nadal ended his 5 year reign at Wimbledon with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7 marathon. Nadal also became the first man to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year since Bjorn Borg in 1980. The first Spaniard to win Wimbledon since Manolo Santana in 1966 avenged his losses to Federer in the last two finals in the longest men's final in Wimbledon history. It was amazing to see Federer fighting to stay in the match and even more amazing to see how well Nadal has progressed from clay to grass. A new King of Grass? Perhaps but I want a new Number 1. For now, Nadal has silenced all those critics who said that he can only play on clay but not grass. Time to switch to hard court. Vamos Nadal!
